Kinetic Kinship ✸ Studio Labs
@WeTransfer
Kinetic Kinship was created for WeTransfer’s internal “playground” initiative, a yearly experimental project where designers and developers explore outside the bounds of a traditional brief.
Our small Studio Labs team collaborated closely to question digital intimacy: what it means to form a moment of connection with a stranger, and how that connection could feel sensorial, surprising, and warm in the age of increasing loneliness.
The experience invited two users to form a live audiovisual link, with textures and soundscapes shifting in real time based on their interaction. I designed the visuals using analog methods — macro photography of flowers, blurred plant textures, and experimental scans — transforming organic details into digital patterns and motion.
Role: Concept Development, Branding, Visual Design
Focus: Shaping the concept and look of the experience
Team: Robbie Kerr (lead designer) Giulian Drimba (lead dev) Ciara Choi (junior designer) Leonidas Diamantis (sound dev)
